Only 24 percent of consumers feel that vaccinations should be required to dine indoors at a restaurant, according to research from Gartner. However, 43 percent believe vaccinations should be required for a role that involves direct contact with customers, like a grocery store employee.
The research also revealed that only 35 percent of those surveyed believe that vaccinations should be required to go back to the office.
Gartner shared five strategies for managing return to work programs, including A/B schedules, reservation systems for desks and meeting spaces, vaccine-only floors or areas, phased and optional returns, and redesigning the workplace to be focused on collaboration rather than individual work.
“Legal and compliance leaders for most organizations we speak to aren’t planning to mandate vaccines in their workplace,” said Chris Audet, senior director, research, in the Gartner Legal & Compliance practice, in a statement. “This data suggests that public opinion on the issue varies significantly according to the setting.”
“Vaccination requirement is clearly a divisive issue and mandating them could be problematic for companies for a variety of reasons including privacy concerns, staff resistance, and logistical issues,” continued Audet.
