Over half (59 percent) of U.S. shoppers see Amazon Go stores as a threat to big box stores like Walmart and Kroger, according to research from Pipslay. In addition, 57 percent of Americans will be excited to see an Amazon Go or similarly tech-enagled store near them, and 54 percent say they believe Amazon Go-like stores will be a success despite online shopping’s success.
“Amazon’s entry into the brick-and-mortar segment got a huge boost amid the pandemic, with its cashier-less technology set to become the next big thing in retail,” said Pipslay in a release. “With plans to open thousands of Amazon Go stores across the country in the coming years, the retail giant will not only disrupt the physical space dominated by the likes of Walmart and Kroger but will also bring a tech-enabled shopping experience to the consumers’ doorsteps.”
