Choice Market, which currently operates three Denver-area grocery stores, will test a pair of remote-controlled electric vehicles to move products in between its stores and commissary, starting in October, reports Grocery Dive. The vehicles, made by California startup Tortoise, can carry approximately 100 pounds of goods in insulated containers. They will augment the conventionally-powered truck that Choice currently uses to move products between the locations.
The retailer said this decision to pilot the vehicles is part of a larger effort to make better use of its employees’ time by shifting them away from “non value-added activities,” said CEO and founder Mike Fogarty. Full Story
