Chipotle Uses Tik Tok to Recruit Workers

Chipotle is one of the companies using social media platform Tik Tok to recruit Gen Z workers, reports CNBC. Using Tik Tok Resumes, a pilot program that lets jobs candidates submit video resumes, companies are able to connect with potential employees as retail and foodservice industries face labor challenges.

Marissa Andrada, chief people officer for Chipotle, said that the company’s 1.6 million followers helped factor into the decision to partner with Tik Tok.

“We have a crazy brand following and it’s always great to see what fan videos are about,” Andrada said.

And since the majority of employees at Chipotle are Gen Z and millennials, “why not lean into their energy?” she noted. “TikTok Resumes is a way to engage with them in a way they already like to connect with us.”

One of the benefits of Tik Tok Resumes is that employers can really see a candidate’s creativity, said Andrada.

“You see their excitement and passion for our food and get a sense for how this person would be as a team member, which is different than just accepting a resume or an application," she said.

On July 15, Chipotle held a coast-to-coast career day at all of its restaurants. The foodservice chain hopes to hire 15,000 employees for its existing and new locations by the end of 2021. Full Story
