Carrefour Restocks PepsiCo After Price Feud
One of the world’s largest grocery chains, France-based Carrefour, recently ended its feud with PepsiCo after reaching an impasse over appropriate grocery pricing, reports The Wall Street Journal. The chain previously accused PepsiCo of “unacceptable price increases.”
The businesses reached a deal, Wednesday, wherein the brand will once again supply its products to the supermarket’s locations in France. The negotiations on PepsiCo’s return to stores in other countries are ongoing, according to the report.
“It’s a pleasure to see friends we haven’t seen in a long time,” Alexandre de Palmas, executive director of Carrefour France, wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
In January, Carrefour said that they are no longer selling items such as Lay's, Doritos, Cheetos, Benenuts snacks, Alvalle gazpacho, Lipton teas, Pepsi and 7 Up beverages, and Quaker foods products. The statement came a few months after the retail chain attached labels to PepsiCo products it claims underwent “shrinkflation,” a process wherein the quantity of a product decreases in its packaging without changing the retail price.
