Specialty Baked Goods, Mixes To Debut at Show
Specialty food makers are streamlining the process of enjoying fresh baked goods with unique baking mixes and products that feel as if they are right from the oven. Following are some of these offerings that will launch at the Summer Fancy Food Show.
Effie’s Homemade, a maker of gourmet biscuits and baked goods, will debut two new biscuit flavors: Gruyere with Black Pepper and Hazelnut.
The Gruyere with Black Pepper Biscuits combine oats, cheese, and black pepper that can be eaten on it’s own or enjoyed with with a cold beer, a slice of sharp cheese, or a spread of caramelized onion jam. The Hazelnut Biscuits are sweet and salty and incorporate oats, toasted hazelnuts, and butter. The Hazelnut offering pairs with bittersweet chocolate or bleu cheese, said Effie's Homemade.
“Working with hazelnuts took me back to my culinary school days and the first time I really experienced that lovely intense flavor,” said Joan Maclsaac, co-owner of Effie’s Homemade, in a statement. “Pairing them with Effie’s biscuit base, which features toasted oats and real butter, was a natural fit. The addition of hazelnuts makes a wonderfully balanced biscuit that we’ve been savoring with goat cheese in the office.”
Additionally, the brand is debuting a refreshed packaging design that incorporates more product education with updated descriptions and a window to see the products.
“Our redesigned packaging not only enriches the story of our recipe’s heritage but also offers retailers alternative merchandising options and pairing suggestions, making it easier to merchandise our products in-store,” said Maclsaac.
The new products and redesigned packaging can be found at Booth #368.
Josephine's Baking Co is a women- and minority-owned maker of gluten-free baked goods. Coinciding with its debut at the Show, it is previewing its ready-to-bake cookie mixes and cookie dough mixes alongside its CPG line of cookies in flavors including Almond, Chocolate Chip, and Cinnamon Ginger.
“In 2016, my nephew was diagnosed with a gluten allergy and could not eat products made with wheat, barley, rye and triticale which meant essentially cutting out bread, cookies, pasta, and many other foods.” wrote Lydda Gonzalez, founder of Josephine’s Baking Co., in the company website. “We looked for gluten-free cookie options but we couldn't find any that were delicious or even had a pleasant taste. So, I dedicated myself to developing a formula to satisfy our taste in cookies.”
