Amazon Tests Free Shipping Threshold

Amazon is piloting a change to its free shipping policy for non-Prime members by requiring select customers to spend $35 to qualify for free shipping, reports CNBC. This is a 10-dollar increase from the $25 minimum spend before the change.

This change comes at a time when the company is looking to cut costs. Amazon CEO Andy Jassy is reviewing company expenses amid slowing sales and an uncertain economic environment. At the beginning of the year, the ecommerce giant began charging delivery fees on Fresh grocery orders below $150 and added fees to select returns.

The company has historically tested fee changes for its non-member users. In 2016, it raised the minimum from $35 to $45, then eventually dropped it to $25 to compete with Walmart+. Full Story
