In preparation for an east coast debut, Amazon Fresh is hiring for hundreds of roles for its new Paramus, New Jersey, and Oceanside, New York. locations. Both are expected to open in the next few months, according to Progressive Grocer.
Amazon Fresh Oceanside is hosting a large-scale virtual hiring event on May 26, and Amazon Fresh Paramus will follow-up with an in-person hiring event between June 8-9.
“I’m proud to bring hundreds of good jobs with benefits to the Paramus community as we prepare to welcome customers,” said Chris Boje, store manager of the Amazon Fresh location in Paramus. “Our new Amazon Fresh store was designed from the ground up to offer the local community...a seamless grocery shopping experience and low prices on a wide assortment of national brands and high-quality produce, meat, and seafood.”
In addition to a traditional checkout experience, the new stores offer Amazon’s “Just Walk Out” technology, enabling shoppers to shop and leave the store without having to queue on a physical line. The system leverages computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning, which work together to detect when a shopper takes an item from a shelf, adding it to their virtual cart.
“This store will provide shoppers in the area with a new and innovative option for their grocery shopping and will also bring hundreds of jobs to the local community,” said New Jersey State Senator Joseph A Lagana. Full Story
