Amazon Fresh Announces Price Cuts
Following in Target and Aldi’s footsteps, Amazon Fresh is the latest grocer to slash prices to increase grocery affordability, reports local news source KTLA5.
The Amazon subsidiary will soon start a weekly rotation for discounts on products from categories including “meat, seafood, frozen food, dairy, and cheese to beverages, snacks, and pastas,” the company said Thursday.
The retail giant added that the 10 percent savings on Amazon Fresh items that were restricted to in-person shopping has been expanded to online orders, lowering costs for grocery delivery orders, according to the report.
“We offer great prices on quality items every day at Amazon Fresh, ensuring grocery shopping is convenient and affordable for all our customers,” said Claire Peters, worldwide VP of Amazon Fresh, in a statement. “Increasing our Weekly Deals across thousands of items and expanding the reach of Prime Savings at Amazon Fresh is just one way that we’re continuing to invest in competitive pricing and savings for all of our customers–both in-store and online.”
Target recently cited inflation when it revealed its plan to drop prices on roughly 5,000 frequently shopped items, a likely contributing factor to Amazon Fresh’s decision. Full Story
