Amazon to Replace Just Walk Out With Smart Carts
Amazon has revealed that it is replacing Just Walk Out technology that allows customer to pay without standing in line, with smart carts in its Amazon Fresh stores, reports NPR.
Called Dash Carts (pictured above), the smart carts allow customers to skip checkout while showing an active tally of their spending.
While redesigning Fresh stores in the past year, Amazon spokesperson Carly Golden said the company heard from customers who enjoy skipping the checkout line but also wanted to view their receipts and savings as they shopped, adding that the smart carts will give customers these benefits while still skipping checkout, according to the report.
Amazon Go stores and some Amazon Fresh stores in the U.K. will still offer Just Walk Out technology. It will also continue offering the service to third-parties. Full Story
