Alfalfa’s Market flagship store in Boulder, Colorado, will close this week after nearly 40 years in business, reports Grocery Dive. High real estate costs, an expensive prepared foods department that had to shutter, and falling foot traffic all contributed to the closing.
Mark Homlish, president of Alfalfa’s, told BizWest that the retailer’s other two stores in Louisville and Longmont, Colorado, have also seen declining foot traffic, but will remain open.
Alfalfa’s Market was founded in 1979 and was a pioneer in the natural and retail movement. Full Story
