Albertsons has partnered with WinnCompanies, an affordable housing company, to bring essential services to over 133,000 residents across 520 properties across the U.S.
The collaboration will provide grocery, prescription, and vaccination resources to mixed-income families and seniors. The intent of the partnership is to reduce accessibility barriers and continue to support the communities the company serves.
“We recognize that many people in our communities face challenges that prevent them from shopping in our stores,” said Omer Gajial, chief digital officer and EVP of Health at Albertsons, in a statement. “As a neighborhood grocer, we’re privileged to partner with WinnCompanies to make nutrition, wellness, and pharmacy services more accessible and convenient for WinnCompanies’ residents.”
In addition, Albertsons will create a more equitable digital grocery shopping experience by integrating SNAP EBT benefits into its website and apps, allowing them to be used for same-day grocery delivery and pickup orders.
“This collaboration with Albertson Cos. reinforces our commitment to have a positive and lasting impact on the quality of life of the residents at our apartment communities,” said Trevor Samios, SVP of connected communities at WinnCompanies, in a statement. “We’re grateful to find a partner who shares this mission and is willing to join us in committing important resources to the health and safety of thousands of individuals and families across the country.”
This partnership comes out of a pilot program that began in 2021 and aimed to solve food and healthcare inequalities in Massachusetts.
