Colonia, New Jersey (January 3, 2024) – Arya International Foods, family-owned manufacturer of better-for-you Indian foods, is thrilled to reunite with the Specialty Food Association community at the 2024 Winter Fancy Food Show, BOOTH 3241, held January 21-23, 2024 in Las Vegas. The Winter Fancy Food Show is the largest B2B specialty food event in the western United States, and features thousands of specialty food and beverage products from around the world. Arya will showcase its flagship line of all-natural, ready-to-eat Roti in four flavors: Whole Wheat, Chia Multigrain, Golden Curry and Cumin Spinach.
Earlier this year, Arya took the first step in expanding its distribution footprint beyond the ethnic grocery channel with its first booth at the Summer Fancy Food Show in New York City. The brand’s glowing reception at the show was preceded by a nod from industry experts and retail buyers who comprised the esteemed panel of the 2023 sofi™ Awards. Arya’s Golden Curry Roti, a golden turmeric flatbread flecked with aromatic fenugreek leaves, was recognized with a sofi™ for Best New Product in the Bread Category.
With confidence in the exceptional taste and texture of the roti line, Arya founder and CEO, Shridhar Patel, saw an opportunity to further boost consumer appeal through enhanced nutrition. “We’ve always avoided gums, preservative and artificial ingredients in our factory because my Mom never used them in the kitchen,” says Patel. “Our recipes are inspired by the homestyle favorites I grew up eating, translated for today’s wellness-minded consumer and their busy families.”
A focused R&D sprint through Q3 included incorporating whole-grain flours across all flavors, and replacing canola oil with premium, non-GMO avocado oil. The successful reformulations position the brand as a category leader in approachable, quality ingredients. Arya’s Rotis contain zero preservatives and are sold from the fridge or deli case. Each roti is a good source of gut-friendly fiber, and delivers four grams of plant-based protein. All flavors are vegan and preservative free, crafted with zero added sugars, transfats, tree nuts, peanuts or soy. Rotis are sold in 12 oz, re-sealable pouches containing eight fully-cooked roti, with a retail price of $6.99-$7.89.
In addition to an improved nutritional profile, Arya’s Roti line has also received a full packaging makeover, anchored by a new logo that honors the brand’s Indian heritage. The vibrant new pouches celebrate storytelling, transparency, culture and tradition, designed to connect with consumer across diverse communities. Attendees of the Winter Fancy Food Show will share an exclusive introduction to both the new visual identity and the updated, whole-grain roti.
What’s a Roti?
Sporting a charmingly blistered surface and a supple, chewy-soft texture, roti are an everyday staple in the Indian breadbasket. An unleavened flatbread that accompanies any meal, rotis are traditionally cooked on an ungreased iron tawa, or skillet, puffing into airy balloons much like Mediterranean pita bread. Once cooled, a proper roti reveals paper-thin, flaky layers that make them ideal for scooping up rich sauces, curries or stews. More than a center plate sidekick, Arya’s plant-based rotis are also a satisfying standalone snack, and swap-in seamlessly for any dish that calls for tortillas, wraps, crêpes or lavosh.
