Walmart Faces Union-Related NLRB Complaint

The National Labor Relations Board has accused Walmart of engaging in alleged union-busting tactics to deter unionizing at a store in California, reports Reuters.

In the complaint, the government agency alleged that Walmart violated U.S. labor law by interrogating workers about union activities, removing pro-union flyers from a break room, and threatening employees who distributed union-related documentation.

If Walmart does not settle the claims, the case will be brought to a hearing in front of an administrated judge in May. The judge’s decision could then be appealed to the agency’s board, and then to a federal appeals court.

In response to the allegations, Walmart shared the following statement with SFA News Daily: "We strive to create an environment of open communication and respect our associates’ rights to share their ideas, feedback, and concerns. We look forward to sharing the facts and addressing the inaccuracies during the legal process." Full Story (Subscription Required)
