Hy-Vee Expands Wisconsin Footprint

Hy-Vee has opened stores in Janesville and Oregon, Wisconsin, bringing the grocer's footprint to eight stores in the state. 

The more than 97,000-square-foot location in Janesville is piloting a new layout and offers a food hall dining area for fast-casual dining, including Hy-Vee’s expanded breakfast menu, a pub with full-service bar, mealtime offerings, and the restaurants Mia Italian, HyChi (Hibachi), Nori Sushi, Market Grille, Long Island Deli, and Wahlburgers. It also features an in-store Starbucks and the following amenities:

• Full-service bakery featuring artisan and specialty breads

• Full-service deli including shaved meats and cheeses, specialty cheese, and charcuterie

• Full-service meat counter including a chef’s station

• Full-service seafood counter with sustainable seafood options

• Expanded Candy Shoppe department with premium, novelty, and nostalgic treats

• Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits department with a walk-in beer cooler and wine room

The store also includes all-digital shelf labels that display product information and pricing and has more than 50 TVs that feature Hy-Vee products, promotions, and services. The store will feature mobile payment technology through Hy-Vee Scan & Go, as well as self-checkout options and stock roughly 120,000 items, including over 6,000 specialty items, 8,000 HealthMarket items, and 3,500 fresh produce items (including 120 organic items). Hy-Vee has invested more than $27 million to build, furnish, and stock the grocery store.

The Oregon, Wisconsin Hy-Vee store, formerly Bill’s Food Center, features a Hy-Vee Wine and Spirits department, a specialty cheese department and prepackaged charcuterie, an expanded health and beauty department, and a large greeting card section. In-store options include Mealtime To Go offerings, natural, organic and gluten-free items, and Hy-Vee Aisles Online grocery pickup and delivery services.
