BROWN SUGAR 1ST was founded by Japanese mompreneur Midori (me-doh-ree) Ogino on the belief that we need to be selective of what we put into our bodies because eating is about so much more than satisfying our hunger. All of our products our manufactured in a fair and environmentally friendly manner, and personally handpicked by Midori after she asked herself the question: Would I feed this to my own child? First founded in Tokyo in 2011, BROWN SUGAR 1ST, a company named after Midori's grandfather, is a health food brand with a parent’s-eye view. The company started small as a farmers market vendor and grew its business by expanding into the U.S. market in 2022. In Japan, Midori (which is the Japanese word for green!) is known as the creator of the coconut oil trend. She was born and raised in Fukuoka, the southern metropolis of Japan and the gateway to Kyushu. She is a multiple business owner and author. Her interests include cooking, gardening and ballroom dancing. She spends a lot of time thinking about how to help future generations nourish the body and soul through healthy eating.
