Tom Leonard, proprietor of Tom Leonard’s Farmer's Market, has been appointed to Virginia’s Small Business Commission by Governor Glenn Youngkin. Members of the commission are tasked with studying, reporting, and making recommendations on issues that concern small businesses in the state.
Tom Leonard’s Farmer's Market is a family-owned business that believes in supporting local Virginia farms whenever possible, according to the company. It sources meat, seafood, fruits, and vegetables directly from its network of family farmers, ranchers, growers, and docks.
"As we approach our twentieth year in business, I continue to feel blessed and have always felt welcome as a local merchant in the Richmond area and as a resident of Virginia," said Leonard. "I feel like I've lived here my entire life. I am truly honored to have been selected to join Governor Youngkin's commission on small business."
Tom Leonard is the son of Stew Leonard, founder of Stew Leonard’s. In 2004, Tom Leonard settled in the Virginia area and opened the retailer’s first store in Short Pump, Virginia. Today his son, Tom Leonard Jr. is set to lead Tom Leonard’s Farmer's Market for the next generation.
