Philomath Oregon, 2023— Moku Chocolate earned two coveted Good Food Awards in the Chocolate category from the prestigious Good Food Foundation. The foundation hosted the 2023 Good Food Awards on Friday, April 21 at Revolution Hall in Portland, OR—the very first time the awards have been held in the Pacific Northwest.
2023 marks the 13th year of the Good Food Awards hosted by the Good Food Foundation. Each year, judges evaluate over 2000 entries in 18 categories via blind tasting. In each category, just three food crafters from each region - North, South, East, West and Central - receive the honor each year.
About Moku Chocolate
Award winning chocolate crafted from bean to bar with careful attention to the cacao that goes into it, respect for the farmers who grow it and reverence for the environment that sustains it.
Moku Chocolate is a woman–owned business in Philomath, Oregon that launched in February 2021. Shortly thereafter Moku Chocolate earned two International Chocolate Awards for their Goat Milk Chocolate bar and a Good Food Award for their Dark Milk bar - an unusual feat for a chocolate maker in their first year. Since then, Moku Chocolate has earned 5 more International Chocolate Awards and two more Good Food Awards.
Dedicated to highlighting cacao farmers around the world, Moku handcrafts high-quality, bean-to-bar, single-origin chocolate from raw, direct trade cacao beans. Moku’s direct trade beans are sourced from farmers in Nicaragua, Ecuador, Madagascar, Dominican Republic and Colombia. Direct trade ensures socially-responsible compensation to the cacao farmers and fosters prosperity among the farming communities with a focus on integrity, quality, and environmental sustainability.
Moku strives to share the stories of the communities where the cacao beans are grown to help connect consumers to land and people of the chocolates’ origins. Moku’s single-origin chocolate bars each tell a different story, each with enchanting and unique flavor profiles.
Moku Chocolate single-origin dark chocolate bars are made with just three ingredients--organic cocoa beans, organic sugar, and organic cocoa butter—and are also vegan, non-GMO, and gluten free. Others may include milk powder or inclusions such as fruit or spices.
