The founder of Portland Pet Food Company recognized as a leader bringing positive change to the pet industry
PORTLAND, Ore. (February 17, 2021) – Katie McCarron, founder and “Top Dog” of Portland Pet Food Company (PPFC), has been recognized by Pet Age as one of its 2021 Women of Influence. The award aims to celebrate the accomplishments of senior management-level women who have made a notable impact in the pet industry.
McCarron founded PPFC in 2014 after seeking out an alternative human-grade meal for her 14-year-old Standard Poodle, Rosie, who was having trouble eating. Rosie lived to be nearly 17 years old eating only the recipes McCarron developed.
Today, PPFC manufactures human-grade dog treats and meals using the same recipes that Rosie ate. All of PPFC’s products are made with sustainable ingredients and never contain any preservatives or additives. Its mission is to provide pets with the same quality, human-grade ingredients that are palatable and nutritious.
PPFC’s meals, which can be used as a rotational option or as a topper/mixer, are available in the industry’s first and only shelf-stable, microwaveable pouches. PPFC can be found in pet specialty and natural grocery stores across the USA, Canada and Japan, as well as online.
“I’m honored to be recognized alongside other women who are passionate about the pet industry,” said McCarron. “These women have all worked hard to achieve the best for the pets we love, and they certainly deserve this award!”
For 2021’s award, candidates needed a reputation of integrity, experience and leadership while also holding a proven track record or accomplishments. Pet Age’s mission is to serve the pet specialty market by delivering timely and practical news and information about the products, trends and events that impact retailers, groomers manufacturers and other related businesses.
