San Juan, PR (May 09, 2022) – The Pancake and Waffle product (Breadfruit Pancakes and Waffle Mix) made with Breadfruit (Panapén in Spanish) and manufactured in Jayuya, PR by Amasar LLC, was awarded a SOFI Award, as the New Product of Breakfast by the Specialty Food Association (SFA), USA. It is the first time that a Puerto Rican product has won a SOFITM award, from this organization. An international recognition to the quality and innovation from Puerto Ricans.
What is a SOFI Award - The Specialty Foods Association's sofi™ Awards have honored the best in specialty foods for 50 years. Winners are selected through a strictly blind judging process, with no packaging, price, or any brand identification. In partnership with the Rutgers Food Innovation Center in Bridgeton, NJ, products are evaluated, and logistics are managed, bringing a greater depth of food industry expertise to the competition. Experienced food professionals act as judges, including chefs, culinary instructors, recipe developers, food journalists, and specialty food buyers who are experts in particular categories. These judges belong to chains such as Food Network, Kroger, Whole Foods Market, Eataly, Food & Wine Magazine, FreshDirect, Kings Food Markets, DPI Specialty Foods, among others.
