Hiring for Wegmans Food Markets’ two metro D.C. stores is underway. Opening in the spring and summer, Wegmans is looking for more than 600 employees to join its Carlyle-Alexandria, Virgina, and Wisconsin Ave. in Washington, D.C. teams.

To prepare for the spring opening, Wegman’s management team are hiring nearly 300 part-time positions for the 81,300 square-foot store located in Alexandria. These openings span a variety of positions across every department in the store, from culinary roles to customer service representatives. In total, the store will employ nearly 450 people, most of whom will be new to the company and hired locally.

The Carlyle team will host a virtual hiring event today from 1 to 5 p.m. Interested applicants should submit an online application in advance of the event.

“While our opening is still a few months away, we’re excited to begin training and building our team so that they’re fully prepared to deliver incredible customer service from day one,” said Carlyle Store Manager Mike Anthony, in a statement. “Wegmans has a long-standing reputation as an exceptional employer, with tremendous opportunity for career growth and development.”

The location in Northwest Washington, D.C. at City Ridge is hiring for more than 300 part-time positions. Part-time customer service roles are available throughout the store in culinary, merchandising, service, and perishable departments. Hiring for full-time positions began in October, and select openings remain for entry-level management positions including bakery and culinary leadership roles.

“We’re looking for friendly people who share our passion for food and are eager to learn and grow with us,” said Wisconsin Ave. Store Manager Kevin Russell, in a statement. “We hire employees who demonstrate our company values, including respect, empowerment, and high standards. If the candidate has the right attitude, we can teach them all the other skills needed to be successful.”
