Walmart+ has gained 7.4 to 8.2 million members, representing 13 to 14 percent of Walmart.com shoppers as of the end of January 2021, according to research from Consumer Intelligence Research Partners, reports Forbes. CIRP surveyed 500 Walmart.com U.S. customers between November and January and found about 26 percent who ordered groceries on Walmart.com are Walmart+ members. This is double the percentage of the site average.
In addition, the survey found that Walmart grocery customers are “ideal candidates” for Walmart+, as they spend an annual average of about $1,900 on Walmart.com, nearly double the annual average for all Walmart.com shoppers. In addition, nearly one-third of Walmart.com shoppers included grocery in their most recent order.
The retailer still has a ways to go to catch up to Amazon, which has about 142 million U.S. Amazon Prime members.
