Target to Increase Holiday Pay

Specialty Food Association

Target will pay its hourly team members who are working in stores, service centers, and supply chain positions an extra $2 per hour during peak holiday periods, it announced Tuesday.

In a note to Target associates, chief human resources officer Melissa Kremer said “This team continues to be at the heart of our strategy. You have shown up consistently for our guests and one another with a tremendous amount of care and we know this busy holiday season will be no different. This is just one more way of expressing our deep gratitude for your significant contributions. Thank you for the many ways you bring joy to all families and for all you do to make Target a place where we can care, grow and win together."

Those eligible for the increase are:

Hourly store, select headquarter, and service center team members: Every Saturday and Sunday from Nov. 20 – Dec. 19, plus Friday, Dec. 24 and Sunday, Dec. 26.

Hourly supply chain team members: For a two-week period (varied based on building) from Oct. 10 to Dec. 18.

Last month, Target announced that it was preparing for the busy holiday rush by providing more hours and flexibility to its store employees and that it had launched a mobile scheduling app that will allow team members to pick up additional hours and switch shifts.

The news comes a day after employee-owned Publix announced it would hire 30,000 employees in the fourth quarter.
