Sprouts Farmers Market Gets Virtual Warehouse

Specialty Food Association

Pod Foods, a grocery supply chains solutions company with a wholesale B2B marketplace that has built-in logistics, has announced that Sprouts Farmers Market will be added to its distribution channel. The first deliveries will be to the southeastern U.S., but the channel spans the entire country.

Pod Foods will provide 130 stores with access to its virtual warehouse of emerging CPG brands, enabling Sprouts to circumvent supply chain delays to get products onto shelves more quickly, according to a statement by Pod. The company’s “virtualized wholesale” model supports trending products, allowing retailers to reset and expand their inventory to match changing consumer needs, according to Pod. Additionally, the grocery retailers can use the platform to connect with emerging and local brands.

"We're extremely excited to announce these new partnerships with Sprouts, which speaks to the market need for Pod Foods. Traditional distributors are unable to match the speed of our placement process, and both national and regional chains across the U.S. have taken notice," said Larissa Russell, co-founder and CEO of Pod Foods, in a statement. "As consumer preferences continue to drive product demand and retailers look to new strategies to keep shelves stocked, Pod Foods is the catalyst driving a new wave of procurement, customization, and customer satisfaction."

Sprouts will be able to use Pod’s platform to also track consumer habits and product demand at the regional level, giving the ability to curate inventory accordingly.
