Food industry members interested in helping to shape the future of food as a volunteer leader with the Specialty Food Association's Board, Committees, or Industry Work Groups are encouraged to apply by February 28, 2022.
At this time each year, the Specialty Food Association Governance Committee accepts nominations for the volunteer positions, which are open to employees, partners, or individuals actively engaged in the business or management of SFA member companies in good standing.
Volunteers will serve the specialty food industry, help guide the Association, and develop programs that contribute to member success.
“Our volunteer leaders help guide the Association to benefit all businesses, as well as the larger industry,” said SFA President Bill Lynch. “They represent our members' interests directly as we set long-term strategies, build programs, host events, and ensure the SFA operates responsibly and reliably to maintain a strong financial foundation under ethical management.”
Volunteer opportunities include:
SFA Board of Directors: A diverse group of 15 directors with staggered terms responsible for the overall governance of the SFA. Each director serves a three-year term.
SFA Committees: There are five designated, chartered committees aiding the SFA Board of Directors, including the Distributor Committee; Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee; Governance Committee; Finance Committee; and Membership Committee.
SFA Industry Work Groups: Five IWGs, each with 7 to 10 members serving one-year terms, help further strategic plan initiatives and critical Association programs. The groups are In-Person Events; Preparedness/Education; Community (Buyer Relations); Digital Strategy; and Recognition.
Time commitments vary for each committee.
General members of Specialty Food Association are eligible to vote online, which starts in mid-May and closes during the first week of June. Results for all positions will be shared soon after.
Nominations are due by February 28, 2022, at 11:59 p.m. EST. Click here for nomination information.
