Roche Bros., the Massachusetts grocer with 16 locations and four Brothers Marketplace banners, recently turned 70. First opened in 1952 by Pat and Bud Roche as a meat and produce store, it later expanded in 1957 into a full-fledged grocer, according to The Shelby Report.
The family business is now headed by Rick and Ed Roche, second-generation brothers.
“We are excited about being able to say that we’ve been servicing our communities for 70 years. And we strive to continue to do so–we’re still kind of in the work of how that anniversary celebration will come to life,” said Tristen Kendall-Barros, vice president of marketing.
Over the years the business has made its involvement in local communities a top priority, partnering with the Greater Boston Food Bank during holiday periods to hold a cash register donation drive and with Lovin’ Spoonfuls, a nonprofit organization that takes food close to the end of its lifecycle and delivers it to people and families in need.
In a continued effort to reinvigorate its brand, the company has built out its amenities. The newest flagship location in Watertown, Massachusetts now includes a café. Full Story
