Revolution Foods, a B Corp. that delivers meals to schools and food insecure populations, has announced its new ownership of Better 4 You Meals, a vended meal service providing schools and senior citizens in California and Nevada with fresh meals. The acquisition enables Revolution Foods to grow its production and community impact by around 50 percent, according to the compay.
"We wake up every day focused on how we personally feed students and families in the communities in which we live and operate," said Dominic Engels, CEO of Revolution Food, in a statement. "Combining efforts with B4YM [Better 4 You Meals] will better equip us to make good on the promise of California's new Universal Meals program, and the growing number of programs and initiatives taking aim at food insecurity around the country."
Despite the USDA’s extension of federal waivers following the signing of the Keep Kids Fed Act, community organizations and schools struggle to meet the demand for free or affordable meals. According to a statement by the company, it expanded in order to ensure that all children, seniors, and communities can access healthy and fresh food.
"Since day one, we have admired Revolution Foods' work here in California and nationally," said Fernando Castillo, Better 4 You Meals' CEO, in a statement. "As [a] Public Benefit Corporation with an abiding commitment to the communities we serve, I know that the combination of our philosophies and food can have an even more profound impact on providing more healthful alternatives to food insecurity."
After the acquisition, both companies now reach over 6,800 schools, organizations, and senior across the U.S.
