The fastest growing online sales category during the next several years will be food and beverage, according to a recent report by Forrester, reports Grocery Dive. The category will experience a compound annual growth rate of 30 percent over the period spanning 2019 through 2024, said the research firm.
Forrester expects digital share in the category to grow from 5.4 percent to 10.4 percent between 2020 and 2024 and drive 17 percent of all U.S. ecommerce sales in 2024.
As consumers get vaccinated and resume normal shopping habits, the record-breaking growth experienced during the pandemic will slow down. However, Forrester notes that online sales will continue to remain above historic averages as consumer embrace new digital habits and innovations across grocery. Full Story
