Armored Fresh, a Korean food tech company, will launch its plant-based cheese products in over 100 supermarkets throughout New York City including Key Foods, Met Fresh, C Town, City Acres, and Associated stores throughout Manhattan and Brooklyn. The company will debut three cubed cheeses: Cheddar, Plain, and Blueberry.
The plant-based cheese is made through a technique that mimics the process of creating dairy cheese, using almond milk and plant-based lactic acid. The cheese also contains protein at a level similar to that of dairy cheese, according to Armored Fresh.
"It's a great privilege and pleasure of mine to be able to partake in this exciting launch of Armored Fresh Cheese. We understand that the US market for cheese is one of the biggest in the world and there is a need for great-tasting plant-based cheese," said Daniel Yang, sales manager of Armored Fresh USA, in a statement. “Understanding the demand from consumers for a cheese that tastes great and provides great nutrients is a passion of our company."
