Morocco has recently beaten out the U.S. as the third largest exporter of raspberries, according to findings by EastFruit. The outlet indicates that its climate, geographical location, and logistics efficiencies are responsible for its increased production.
Over the past five seasons, Moroccan fresh raspberry exports have more than doubled, according to the report. In 2022, Moroccan exporters shipped roughly 56,000 tons of raspberries while the previous third-place holder, the U.S., sold 50,000 tons.
Mexico is ranked first for raspberry export, having sold 112,000 tons in 2022, and Spain maintains its second-place position, having exported 72,000 tons. EastFruit suggested that Spain’s exports, however, have been stagnating since 2019 due to increased competition with new suppliers.
Earlier this year, Morocco also became the fourth largest exporter of fresh cultivated blueberries. Full Story
