Specialty Food Association members made an impact in the recent news cycle, including garnering support from celebrity names, being called out as a chef’s go-to, and a featured example of a psychedelic trend.
Kim Kardashian’s private equity firm SKYY Partners has agreed to acquire a “significant minority stake” in Truff in a transaction expected to close in the first quarter of 2024, reports Food Business News.
“Truff is exactly the kind of business that embodies what we were looking for when we founded SKKY— a next-generation brand with a deep, authentic connection with consumers and the potential for ongoing growth,” said Kardashian. “Nick and Nick [Truff founders and co-CEOs] have singlehandedly brought truffle-infused products into the mainstream food scene and built a community around the brand that will continue to be key to its success going forward. We’re proud to be kicking off the SKKY portfolio with this investment.”
In a Business Insider article about a culinary judge who shops at Costco, Blount Fine Foods’ soups were featured. Judge and author Meredith Ochs shared that it’s a go-to for fresh-tasting soup.
“I've never had a Blount Fine Foods soup or comfort food that I didn't absolutely love. The brand uses minimal ingredients and, in my opinion, each dish tastes homemade,” wrote Ochs.
The Guardian reports a flourishing specialty food trend with enduring popularity: mushrooms. In it, Popadelics founder Marilyn Yang is cited as an influential ‘mushroompreneur.’
“There’s no reason that mushrooms can’t be as good of a carrier of flavor as a potato chip or tortilla chip can be,” said Yang. “It’s just about introducing people to different ways that mushrooms can be used.”
After launching in 2022, the brand is stocked in over 600 retail locations across the U.S. Recently, Yang was a guest on the Specialty Food Association’s Spill & Dish podcast. Listen now.
