Lidl US is opening a location in Manhattan, New York, reports Winsight Grocery Business. This new store joins the discount grocer’s existing supermarket in Harlem, which is part of Manhattan.
Lidl and MAG Partners announced a lease for a roughly 23,000-square-foot grocery store in Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. The plans indicate the store will open in early 2026 and that the grocer will work with Hire NYC to hire area residents.
“We are excited to introduce Lidl’s fresh groceries, low prices, and convenient shopping experience to the Chelsea community,” said Or Raitses, senior director of real estate for Lidl’s Northern Region, in a statement. “We look forward to continuing our expansion in New York City and opening even more stores in the future, bringing our unique value proposition to additional areas of the city where New Yorkers for far too long have had to put up with high grocery prices.”
The store will offer grocery essentials, and have bakery, produce, meat and seafood areas, and a floral department. Eighty percent of the store’s offerings will be private-label products, most of which will be sourced from the U.S., according to the discount grocer. Full Story
