Whole Foods Market's Kentwood, Michigan, location is now open, serving the greater Grand Rapids area. The 45,400-square-foot location will feature over 200 local items sourced from Michigan, Indiana, and Wisconsin, hand-picked by local forager for Michigan stores, Mike Neill.
The location’s features include:
• Organic, conventional, and Sourced for Good local produce options
• A full-service meat counter with hot smoked meats, made-in-house sausage, local offerings, and more
• A full-service seafood counter where all items are sustainable wild-caught or Responsibly Farmed
• A specialty cheese department overseen by cheesemongers featuring local and artisan cheeses
• Baked items made in-house, special diet items, and local options
• A full-service coffee bar featuring coffees, lattes, cold brew, teas, and seasonal items
To give back to the Grand Rapids and Kentwood communities, Whole Foods matched 100 percent of proceeds from local products purchased between August 17-21 and donated it to Green Apple Pantry, a local food pantry. September 6-9, the supermarket will also donate 1 percent of each day’s total sales to benefit four local schools in the area. Additionally, it will provide support to local non-profit organizations.
This news comes soon after Whole Foods announced a grand opening of a relocation of its existing Pittsburgh store, which has served the community for over 20 years.
