Anne Saxelby Legacy Fund Seeks Apprentice Candidates

Specialty Food Association

The Anne Saxelby Legacy Fund seeks to sponsor young adults, ages 17 to 25, for one-month apprenticeship opportunities on farms, similarly to those the fund’s namesake engaged in during her early 20s. Saxelby, who founded Saxelby Cheesemongers, was just 40-years-old when she died in October.

Apprentices will work full time with a farm/production team for a 30-day immersive experience during July or August. They will receive $20 per hour for 40-hour work weeks. Lodging and meals and an expense budget will be provided. The application is available here.

Applications are due by April 1 and promising candidates will be contacted for an interview with the ASLF Selection Committee. Additional consideration will be given to graduate students or those in life or career transitions that have led them to a desire to work in food and agriculture. The list of host farms can be found here
