Specialty Food Association

Albertsons will begin selling Korean plant-based meat brand Unlimeat in 1,500 stores beginning January 5, 2023. Products include plant-based Korean BBQ that serves as a beef brisket substitute and two flavors of plant-based pulled pork: a traditional barbecue flavor and Sweet & Smoky, a charcoal grilled rib flavor.

The company’s products emphasize versatility, as they can be stir-fried or grilled, and used in both Eastern and Western cuisine.

"Partnering with Albertsons to offer our unique and delicious plant-based foods to a wider audience is a testament to the industry's evolution and increasing appetite for more diverse offerings,” said Ryan Chung, the head of international business at Unlimeat. “We're incredibly excited to bring our signature products to Albertsons customers, who deserve tastier and healthier plant-based options."

The brand implements upcycled materials, edible products that typically go to waste during food production, into their products. Such ingredients include defatted soybean powder and rice bran, which both provide nutritional benefits.
