Brazilian illustrator and artist Eduarda Coelho commissioned to capture social reformer’s essence in new tea variety set to debut this summer

LOS ANGELES, May 12, 2021 – The TeaBook, a member of the Specialty Food Association and company dedicated to the art and power of tea with a mantra of “Drink Tea, Do Good & Have Fun,” has officially unveiled a new Night Time tea in honor of British scientist, mathematician, nurse and first women to receive the Order of Merit, Florence Nightingale.  In honor of International Nurse’s Day and Nightingale’s birthday, artwork for the new tea blend was inspired by the inventor of modern nursing who started the first formal school for nursing, creating a new profession and opportunity for women. The Florence NigTEAngale Night Time tea is the second addition to The Teabook’s MedTEAcal series that will debut later this year.

“We are dedicated to sharing stories with social impact through the power of tea.  Our new Florence NighTEAngale tea honors her great impact on society through her unwavering work in the nursing field,” notes Noah Bleich, founder and head tea taster at The TeaBook. “It was important to us to commission the most fitting artist to capture Nightingale’s character and personality and Eduarda Coelho infused her own take and caring inspiration to develop the latest addition to our ever-growing catalog of teas.”

With a passion for drawing and creating characters, Coelho discovered at an early age her connection with animation.  To illustrate the life and legacy of Florence Nightingale, Coelho tapped into her own inspiration, to make the connection between the genuine care of humans to animals. With every bag of tea, there is a hidden story.  The Florence NighTEAngale artwork highlights include:

- The iconic red cross on her arm representing a calling from a higher power she received to help the wounded

- As the author of The First Book of Nursing, her “notes on nursing” are represented on the table

- The tea stand with cakes is topped with the symbol of women, illustrating her work to help women achieve a higher status and generate income

- The Italian and British flags are represented, paying homage to her original birthplace and her nationality

- A lamp represents her nickname, “the lady with the lamp,” based on her military hospital rounds being done with an oil lamp

- Her two cats are around the table.  Margot, the black cat is modeled after her friend Queen Victoria and orange cat, Zoe

“What brings me the most joy in life is seeing people enjoying my creations. I absolutely love what I do and making people feel happy and inspired through my designs is incredible,” notes Coelho. “I am honored to have been chosen to represent such an important figure that has had a global impact on the way we treat and care for the sick.”
