Two Pre-Holiday Events Showcase Premium Vanilla
SIGNAL HILL, Calif. (Nov. 1, 2023) – Tahitian Gold Co., producer of specialty vanilla products including their signature ground vanilla beans and award-winning vanilla sugar, is stepping up its commitment to fostering the next generation of pastry chefs.
The family-owned company is sponsoring two culinary events this month, one at Los Angeles Trade-Tech College (LATTC) in Los Angeles and another in New York celebrating the publication of “Stirring the Pot,” a cookbook featuring recipes from members of Les Dames d’Escoffier New York (LDNY).
“We want to celebrate, empower, and uplift aspiring chefs and help them pursue careers in the culinary arts,” says Manuata Martin, founder and CEO of Tahitian Gold Co. “We know that many potential culinary stars in high school, college or beyond have to make sacrifices to attend culinary school, and our support can hopefully make a difference.”
At LATTC, on November 16 the company is staging its second annual culinary competition for high school and college students highlighting vanilla as a special ingredient in three categories: sweet, savory and beverage. Winners will be selected based on their creativity and the flavor and visual appeal of their creations. Prizes include cash, vanilla products and gift cards to a local baking supply store.
LDNY is a not-for-profit group of women leaders in the food and beverage field who raise funds for culinary scholarships for women pursuing careers in food, wine, spirits and related hospitality fields. Proceeds from the book event will go toward LDNY’s scholarship fund.
LDNY’s event, “Stirring the Pot: Chocolate and Vanilla,” is slated for November 7 at chocolate company Barry Callebaut’s Chocolate Academy. The event will include demonstrations and tastings featuring Callebaut chocolate and Tahitian Gold Vanilla from members of the invite-only culinary organization who are experts in the world of chocolate and pastry. Cocktails made with Caravedo Pisco will be rimmed with Tahitian Gold Vanilla Sugar.
The event, in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, is open to the public. To register, click here. Learn more about the new Les Dames cookbook, by Silvia Baldini & Sharon Franke with a foreword by Carla Hall and dedication by Lidia Bastianich, at Stirring the Pot NY.
