Rutgers University Incubator Hub Welcomes Sundial Foods to Booth IV13
NEW YORK (June 10, 2022) – Sundial Foods, the new food tech company that uses breakthrough technology to create plant-based whole cuts of meat, will exhibit at the 2022 Summer Fancy Food Show. The California-based food tech startup can be found at Booth IV13 as part of the Rutgers University Incubator Hub on the show floor. Attendees are invited to visit the Sundial Foods booth to sample Sundial Wings and meet the cofounders.
Sundial Foods is on a mission to make plant-based food more nutritious, sustainable, and affordable. The company debuted Sundial Wings into foodservice in April 2022 on Earth Day, offering the complete wing experience skin-to-bone with a convincing meaty texture and an irresistible crispy skin. Sundial Wings are vegan, made with minimal ingredients, and are free from artificial flavors and chemicals, providing a healthy, planet-friendly alternative to animal chicken wings.
Co-founders Jessica Schwabach and Siwen Deng, PhD, first met while working on a school project for the University of California Berkeley’s Alternative Meats Program. Schwabach and Deng turned the assignment into a fully operating company and participated in Nestlé’s R&D Accelerator in 2020 as well as SOSV’s IndieBio program last year. As one of the most innovative startups emerging from the current food tech boom, Sundial Foods announced a $4 million seed round in late 2021 that includes: Nestlé, Food Labs, Clear Current Capital, SOSV / IndieBio, and others.
