Minneapolis, January 13, 2023 -- Over 25 years ago, Janet Fuhrken stood over a steaming stock pot many nights in her Kansas City, MO home kitchen and after much experimentation, she struck the perfect balance of sweet and subtle spice. This week, she will present at the 2023 Winter Fancy Food Show, January 15-17, located at the Las Vegas Convention Center, booth 739. Janet will talk about how she took these recipes and a midwestern 'can-do' attitude to turned her passion into a thriving compote business throughout the 1990s and 2000s. “I never set out to curate a line of compotes but I loved the exploration process and one thing led to another,” Janet explains.
In the 1990s, Janet's teenage daughters, Jessica and Angela, watched their mom build her business from scratch. When Janet retired in 2017, Angela and Jessica were delighted to take the reins. The sisters were primed to expand their Mom's business, building a strong customer base through social media by partnering with cheeseboard makers around the country. Jessica and Angela are excited to expand their reach to grocery store shelves and look forward to joining Janet at the 2023 Fancy Food Show.
