About Big Spoon Roasters
Big Spoon Roasters was founded in 2010 by Mark and Megan Overbay in Durham, N.C. Mark is a lifelong peanut butter lover who first made his own in 1999 while living in Zimbabwe as a Peace Corps Volunteer. He watched the community roast peanuts over open fires and pound them with stones into a thick paste, usually added to savory dishes. Attempting to replicate the peanut butter he craved from home, Mark made his own batches with additions of honey, sea salt and coconut oil. Mark and Megan Overbay then started handcrafting nut butters and snack bars from scratch with world-class ingredients sourced directly from local and like-minded producers who share a dedication to authentic quality and sustainability. Big Spoon believes that our food choices matter and pursues a mission to build a healthier relationship with our planet through delicious, nutritious foods made without compromise. By fall 2022, the company plans to move its offices and production facility to a new, 20,500-square-foot facility in Hillsborough, N.C. More information can be found at bigspoonroasters.com.
