Cookbooks for a Cause – Support Emma’s Torch

Join the NYWCA and fellow foodies as we explore a treasure trove of over 400 cookbooks from around the world (out-of-print, vintage, signed and classics), while supporting Emma’s Torch. Dive into the cookbook collection donated by former NYWCA Board Member Terry Frishman of Culinest and select some new favorites to take home.

Enjoy conversations and a short talk about “ Why We Love Cookbooks: A sense of time, place, family, and moving forward with food ” from Barkha Cardoz ( with Love & Masalas ). Each ticket includes cookbooks of your choice, complimentary beer (NA options available), cheese and charcuterie bites (vegan options available). Barkha Cardoz -- https://cardozlegacy.com/barkha-cardoz
Barkha Cardoz is a culinary entrepreneur. She is the founder of Cardoz Legacy LLC, the co-creator of FC + B&B Masalas, and the co-founder of The Young Scientist Foundation.  In the 2010s, Barkha worked alongside Floyd at their beloved restaurant Paowalla—which later became The Bombay Bread Bar—supervising operations and supply.  In 2020 she launched a collection of masalas in partnership with Burlap & Barrel and in honor of Floyd’s legacy. They are in every way an extension of her kitchen—each an iteration of a spice blend Floyd and Barkha developed and used at home to make dinnertime easier.   She recently published her first cookbook “with Love & Masalas: Everyday Indian Recipes from My Kitchen to Yours”, also with Burlap & Barrel.
