Ray Berry founded The Fresh Market in 1982, a specialty food retailer currently operating 168 stores in 27 states. He led the family-owned company as Chairman until a public offering in 2010 and remained as Chairman through 2015. In 2016, Ray joined with his son Brett and the private equity firm Apollo to take The Fresh Market private.
