Michael Barefoot & Tim Manale

In 1975, Barefoot (with a staff of one) founded a 700-square-foot coffee roastery in Chapel Hill, N.C. He was later joined by Duke MBA Tim Manale to nurture what was to become the Nordstrom of Specialty Foods, (Specialty Food Magazine, 2003.) After selling the business in 2011, the two launched a new import venture, Bon Courage Gourmet. They were married in N.C. in 2014.
