Maybe it’s the economy, or it might be a monumental shift in the way people eat, but the biggest trend in San Francisco restaurants is small-plates. Just about every place seems to concentrate on the top part of the menu. Even established restaurants have tweaked their menus to increase the number of appetizers. Often, you’ll find about twice as many appetizers, including soup and salad, as main courses.
